There is also a ‘standalone version’ available which allows you to purchase say 30 users and then you can install it on ‘30 computers/macs’ and you can only use Sibelius Ultimate on these machines.
The Industry Standard with Academic Discount
Sibelius Ultimate is no doubt the most popular notation software around and is used in 97% of schools & Universities and is the industry standard amongst professional composers & publishers - it's so powerful with many advanced features, yet it is so easy to use. The reason for this is that Sibelius was originally created by musicians who had computer science degrees - it was therefore developed in a logical way for musicians to compose, arrange, edit, etc. By purchasing a Sibelius Ultimate Site License will be using the very same version - the world is your oyster!

Sibelius Ultimate Site Licenses FAQs
When does my 12 months of Upgrades & Support start?
Sibelius Ultimate Site Licenses comes with 12 months of support and upgrades (Annual Upgrade Plan). Your Annual Upgrade Plan starts when you install/activate Sibelius.
Can teachers install Sibelius Ultimate on their laptops for lesson preparation?
You can 'check out' 1 out of every 5 users in your networked license so that teachers can use Sibelius Ultimate at home whilst not connected to the network at school, etc for lesson preparation, etc. When you 'check out' a user it deducts a user from your license, so for example if you had a 20 users networked license and checked out 4 users (for teachers) your network license would then be left with 16 available users.
Network Site License Client-Server Model
Sibelius Ultimate's network licenses operate on a client-server model. The Sibelius Ultimate program itself is installed on the local hard drive of each of the client workstations, and a separate License Server program is installed on a single designated server or workstation. The License Server program is supplied with your copy of Sibelius Ultimate and enables the designated number of licensed client copies to run on the network simultaneously. In conjunction with Sibelius Ultimate's Classroom Control feature, the License Server also lets you send messages to users of the client copies, send and receive Sibelius Ultimate files between client machines, and close copies down from the server machine. For in-depth system requirements please see avid.com and for 'client system requirements' please see the 'What are the PC and MAC system requirements?' section in this FAQs.
Is Sibelius Ultimate compatible with earlier versions of Sibelius?
Sibelius can open and save as Sibelius 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 7.5, 8 and Ultimate files.
