Duets with a Difference Piano Time Duets Book 1 contains 16 fun duets to play with a friend or teacher in a wide variety of styles, from jazz to classical, and folk to blues!
Easy duets that sound really impressive!
Duets with a difference is filled with music from an array of styles: classical, traditional, contemporary, and fun original compositions by Pauline Hall and friends, such as ‘Swinging fingers’, ‘The Irish washerwoman’, ‘Royal procession’ and ‘Blues for two’, arranged for beginner pianists (approx. pre-grade 1-grade 1 standard) - so suitable for use alongside Piano Time Book 1 & 2. Pupils usually play the upper part but you can switch with your teacher and play the bottom part if you want more of a challenge! The music in Duets with a Difference includes dynamics, articulation and performance directions and repeat signs, and there are performance tips for many pieces.
Improve your musicianship
It encourages improvisation over a bass line in ‘Blues for two’, and by asking you to make up your own ‘Black Key Lullaby’ using only the black keys and the words provided, with tips to help you out. When you’re done you can play your own tune along with your teacher doing the accompaniment - playing with others is a vital skill for any musician!
Fun games and illustrations
Listening games such as ‘copy cat’ and ‘spot the difference’ and cool illustrations by Mike Spoor make Duets with a Difference really fun for beginners.
